Traveling can be a great way to explore new places and gain new and helpful world perspectives.

It does, however, require an investment of time and money. These tips will help you minimize the amount of money you spend without
compromising the quality of your vacation.

Leave your valuables at home. Bringing too many valuable items on a trip just increases the chance that some of them
will be lost or stolen.

If you have known food allergies, be very careful about food when traveling in foreign countries. If you have food
allergies that tend to be severe, it is important for you to learn terminology for words pertaining to foods and their
preparation so that you can prevent an allergic reaction. This will help you ask locals about foods you want to avoid.
Also, if the worst happens, you’ll be able to tell a doctor about your allergies.

When traveling to foreign countries, you should be aware of the taxi companies in the city.

Prior to getting into a taxi, be sure it is legit. Anyone can pose as a taxi service, and you don’t know what someone might do or where you
might be taken.

Research before booking. Look at different websites with reviews about the place you want to travel to. Ask other
people that have traveled there. When you do this research, you will be better prepared and know what to do and take
while visiting.

Check your hotel alarm clock. People have been awoken by an alarm that was accidentally or purposely set for an
inconvenient time. In order to start your vacation in a relaxing fashion, make sure to shut the alarm off or is set to
a time when you actually want to get up.

Pack a door stopper to use when traveling. When visiting underdeveloped parts of the world, it is wise to maintain
tighter security during the evenings in your room. If you cannot access a deadbolt for the door, wedge a doorstop under
it instead.

Make sure you take clothespins with you when travelling.

While not on your typical travel list, a handful of  clothespins can prove very useful.

You can find great vistas and unique vegetation in the desert. The first time you visit the desert, you are sure to be
awed by the vast expanses of open space and the breathtaking austerity and majesty. The desert is definitely a mustn’t
miss destination.

Plan in advance for possible travel disruptions, like a lost passport. The U.S. Department of State has a site that has
info on how to get in touch with the US Embassy in case you need it. Know about these helpful resources ahead of time.
In many cases, they will have a replacement passport for you in a day or so.

Hopefully, you were able to find help from the suggestions in this article in planning for your next vacation, either
to a foreign country or to a local destination. Traveling is a rewarding and fascinating adventure which can be full of
surprises; therefore, treat yourself to the vacation that you have always dreamed of.

    Great Tips Christine

For longer trips a little portable kettle, favorite tea/coffee and thermal mugs are a must for me. When on a tour round Europe, even though there was meant to be a kettle, some hotels had taken them away. No doubt because the tour operators got cheap prices.

    Always drink bottle water too.

More great tips here Christine. I chuckled when I read about the taxis. Reminded me of a taxi in rural Ireland which turned up for us with a bale of hay in the back and 2 old farmers in the front. We had a ball on the journey to and from our destination – laughed all the way. I think they thought we were crazy Aussies…..

  5. Great tips here. I didn’t get to see the tip about the clothespins – the video wasn’t working. What did I miss? I
